THE INDIE LIFE: Two new record labels focusing on Latin
alternative music have opened on opposite coasts: Urbano
Records in Los Angeles and Fabrika Music in Miami.
Urbano Records was founded by Issa Wilson, president of Los
Angeles-based Latin Music Artists. It will specialize in
urban/regional, reggaeton and Latin alternative. Its first
release will be the Nov. 16th self-titled debut of Ana Alicia,
a former contestant on Telemundo’s reality show
“Protagonistas de Telenovela”. Urbano will also release a
compilation CD, “Latin Divas”, featuring up-and-coming female
singers.
The label will be distributed by Big Intertainment, a Los
Angeles-based indie label that has a deal with EMI. LMA,
which launched last year, acts as a liaison between signed and
unsigned acts and the record, film, publishing and TV
industries.
